Assessment of liver volume variation to evaluate liver function

Cong Tong, Xinsen Xu, Chang Liu, Tianzheng Zhang, Kai Qu

Frontiers of Medicine 2012, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 421-427 doi: 10.1007/s11684-012-0223-5

Abstract:

In order to assess the value of liver volumetry in cirrhosis and acute liver failure (ALF) patientsto get a regression formula for standard liver volume (SLV) and BSA.In conclusion, the CTLV/SLV ratio, which reflects liver volume variations, correlates well with the liverfunction and progression of cirrhosis and ALF.It is also a very useful marker for predicting the prognosis of ALF.

Lei Li,Yimei Liu,Tiancheng Luo,Jian Zhou,Yingyong Hou,Xizhong Shen,Jiyao Wang

Frontiers of Medicine 2014, Volume 8, Issue 2,   Pages 250-253 doi: 10.1007/s11684-014-0333-3

Abstract:

The clinical data of a patient with acute-on-chronic liver failure were analyzed retrospectively. His liver function deteriorated, yielding Child-Pugh grade C and reaching a model for end-stage liverperiod; this condition was complicated with highly active variceal bleeding and coagulation system failurePiggyback orthotopic liver transplantation was performed as the final treatment.

Yi-Tao DING, MM, Xiao-Lei SHI, MD

Frontiers of Medicine 2011, Volume 5, Issue 1,   Pages 15-19 doi: 10.1007/s11684-010-0110-x

Abstract:

Acute liver failure remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality.Bioartificial liver (BAL) devices have been in development for more than 20 years.patients’ own liver has recovered or a donor liver becomes available for transplant. In conclusion, BAL is, in principle, an important therapeutic strategy for patients with acute liverfailure, and may also be a bridge to liver transplantation.

Intra-abdominal hypertension is an independent cause of acute renal failure after orthotopic liver transplantation

SHU Ming, PENG Chenghong, CHEN Hao, SHEN Boyong, ZHOU Guangwen, SHEN Chuan, LI Hongwei

Frontiers of Medicine 2007, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 167-172 doi: 10.1007/s11684-007-0031-5

Abstract: An independent association between acute renal failure (ARF) and intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) afterliver transplantation has not been established previously. This study involved 62 subjects who underwent liver transplantation.IAH impaired renal function and was an independent risk factor for ARF after liver transplantation.

Frontiers of Medicine 2021, Volume 15, Issue 3,   Pages 495-505 doi: 10.1007/s11684-020-0790-9

Abstract: explore the effect and mechanisms of the treatment plan of “traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) regulating liverA total of 457 patients with HBV-related liver failure were retrospectively collected. In addition, there were significant differences in the expression of several cytokines related to liverRLR treatment can decrease jaundice, improve liver function, and significantly reduce the mortality inpatients with HBV-related liver failure.

Gut Microbiota-Controlled Tryptophan Metabolism Improves D-Gal/LPS-Induced Acute Liver Failure in C57BL Article

Zhipeng Zheng, Li Wu, Yuqiu Han, Jun Chen, Shuai Zhu, Yuanyuan Yao, Baohong Wang, Lanjuan Li

Engineering 2022, Volume 14, Issue 7,   Pages 134-146 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.12.013

Abstract:

Acute liver failure (ALF) has an abrupt onset with a frequently fatal outcome.Previous studies have found that oral antibiotics prevent drug-induced liver injury in animal experimentssequencing showed that inflammatory responses were inhibited and metabolic pathways were upregulated in the liverof Abx-treated ALF mice., indicating that AhR directly regulated susceptibility to ALF, at least in part.

Rdh13 deficiency weakens carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury by regulating Spot14 and Cyp2e1 expression

Xiaofang Cui, Benting Ma, Yan Wang, Yan Chen, Chunling Shen, Ying Kuang, Jian Fei, Lungen Lu, Zhugang Wang

Frontiers of Medicine 2019, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 104-111 doi: 10.1007/s11684-017-0568-x

Abstract: We previously generated knockout mice and showed that Rdh13 deficiency causes severe acute retinaleffect of Rdh13 on liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl ).Although Rdh13 deficiency showed no significant effect on liver histology and physiological functionsunder regular culture, the mice displayed an attenuated response to CCl -induced liver injury.Furthermore, the mice had Rdh13 deficiency and thus their liver cells were protected from apoptosis
